“Omega ” Pencil on Archers WC board mounted on Maple 32” x 40” .
( a rare occurrence, I drew back into this after posting it-about thirty hours’ worth
The background needed simplification and some other problem became apparent only on seeing it on a monitor, there is enough of a change to repost it.
These drawings are at once a still life and a symbolic narrative of a life lived, lost and abandoned. The light bulbs once held energy-symbolic of life and gave light to the dark while guiding our way. Once broken we sweep them up never to think of them again, curiously not unlike what we do with ancestors. After all as generations fall by the wayside, we start to forget them, their lives and what they stood for. The viewer, detached from my personal symbolism, sees them as a still life of an object that in spite of its broken state peeks this artist's interest as a result of complex composition, translucency, distortion, light, shadow and deterioration. Most would never see this macro world unless the artist puts it on the pedestal that we call art. The narrative might only be important to me but the visual experience the viewer gets gives them.
Thank you to all who replied on the first post sorry to nuke it but there were some issues.
