This I how I set up the drawing its upside-down, what you are seeing is a metal plate that hangs off the drawing which is mounted on three quarter inch maple. I use small magnets to hold my pencils, reference photos, branches, phone, my remote to a monster stereo, a remote for my flat panel TV which is above the drawing. There is translucent paper taped so I don’t drag my hand across this is attached with drafting tape also one on the bottom so my knee doesn’t leave marks. On each side there are tables that hold more pencils; erasers pieces of wood and of course my beer! party on.......
WOW, I was looking at the other picture of you standing against the original and I did wonder how you managed to draw something so big with a pencil without getting a smudge on it, now I know lol. Love the beer idea, I used to have the odd glass of wine until I accidently knocked it over my lap top with my ref picture on. The lap top sadly died from alcohol poisoning. Love seeing how other artists work Amazing peices that I look at for ages trying to figure out how you make them look so real.................
LOVE the magnetic board idea.. I think I'll try something like that when I get my studio space set up! Glad I'm not the only one that enjoys a beer, TV or Music while drawing!
Out of curiosity, why do you draw upside down? Does it help with any specific features, or is it just something you enjoy doing? (Nice set-up, by the way).
