For the last year I have been experimenting with photography, not just any photography but with an iPhone (iPhoneography). I have not shown this on my DA site for a few reasons, one it’s very experimental and not really part of my artistic endeavors. Two, I don’t want anyone to think that this experiment will take away form what I want to do and that’s to draw better and continue to grow conceptually. Three, its nice do distance myself under a guise and not get the, “I like your drawing much better” comments or worse “I like these photos better than your drawings”. That would have disturbed the flow of this year long experiment.

My vision was to take a photo every day for a year with the iPhone some are heavily manipulated on my iPad with apps other’s not at all. Some came out great while others where a total disaster but all where a learning experience. Most are about composition in everyday things I saw, and how to affect the mood. It was the best year I have had in a long time as an artist as far as "experimentation" goes.

Most of these photos hold to my “artistic language” some have been transformed into encaustic (bees wax) and will be shown with my drawing, but framing a photo and calling it my art will probably never happen. I have to be more physically involved and reinvent them, I might draw some but even that is a long shot. IPhoneography is still more about the nucleus of an idea then a completed and executed art form at least at this stage. I do NOT want it to take away from my time at the drawing board.

Matter of fact I’m going to keep on doing this for a 1000 days but this is the only time I will feature one of these as Nimra, I still want to keep them a separate identity. If you are interested in seeing these works, please take a few minutes and check them out comment if you like and I hope they are of some interest. My alias is Gerald-Bostock and here is the link.

Being a visual being means, that you notice things around you, compositions, stories and colours.
One media would ever suffice. Your still a visual being when your paper pencils are at home, or taking a break.

I applaud you for using your gift where ever you can, and for sharing :-)

There are so many artists who fear to leave their comfort zone, especially when they are producing such high quality work as you do. I applaud your experiment, and will follow it closely. Best of luck, and enjoy! I'm sure it will only add to the excellence of your traditional work.

thank you, it feel rather liberating but not like a substitute for drawing. I think this will enhance the drawing experience it already has. anything that let me see the world thought a more artistic eye can only help

I like the overall feeling here. One tree bent like this is enough to make me feel uncomfortable so you can imagine how hard it is here :D. The whole picture carries a lot of sadness, at least this is just me and how I see it.

Look, I haven't been following your work for a long time, one or two years maybe, I don't remember. However for what I have seen so far, I'd say it has never been "just a drawing" or "just a picture" or "just a painting". It's always been more than just that hence neither of these can really compare. It's true that with your pencil drawings I haven't [yet] been able to go past the deep admiration and respect for the performance (as well as how much of your time and energy you invest into achieving those wonders) to finally perceive your message. Maybe I'm searching too far, I don't know. In the end I'm happy I can keep my mouth shut whenever I don't feel anything or have a different opinion — after all *I* am responsible for what *I* perceive, the artist not. In this case it's as if I were more receptive.

This said I find it quite interesting how you explore life and combine its various aspects in your art. Just like with this work. Maybe life itself is art after all and you're showing it to us through one of its many lenses.
